Zhuhai, December 6, 2019 – Audi Sport customer racing Asia teams will be out in force this weekend for the annual Circuit Hero 700km at the Zhuhai International Circuit. Zun Motorsport Crew will defend their GT Class crown in an Audi R8 LMS GT3, with race-winning drivers Adderly Fong, Ma Ka Chun and Lin Yiming joined by Julio Acosta. Tianshi Racing Team enters an Audi RS 3 LMS with Audi Sport Asia driver Chen Weian, team principle Liu Peng and Lin Xinying behind the wheel. Champ x TA Motorsport meanwhile fields two Audi RS 3 LMS entries for Filipe Souza, Li Ka Hei and Cherry Cheung, and Kelvin Lam, Angelo Negro and James Wong.

“The Circuit Hero Endurance Race has grown both in stature and distance since it began in 2010 as a 500km race, but remains true to its roots as a grassroots event for Greater Bay Area motorsport enthusiasts,” said Martin Kuehl, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. “This is a great chance for the Audi Sport customer squads to sign off the year with a flourish at China’s longest-running permanent circuit.”

Run for the first time over 700km in January this year, Audi customer team Zun Motorsport Crew took a commanding victory, completing 163 laps of the 4.318km circuit in less than four hours 46 minutes – well within the five hours allowed - and setting the fastest lap of the race for good measure. Fong, Lin and Ma return to the winning line-up this weekend, and are joined this time around by Circuit Hero GT3 champion in 2018, Julio Acosta.

Hot off his Macau Grand Prix GT World Cup debut, Chen Weian lines up for the Circuit Hero 700km in a Tianshi Racing Team Audi RS 3 LMS alongside team owner Liu Peng and female privateer Lin Xinying.

The line-up for the two Champ x TA Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS entries is also strong, with Souza, one of the Chinese city of Macau’s most successful drivers, recently taking a class victory in the Macau Grand Prix’s Touring Car Cup. Souza is joined by Li Ka Hei and TCR Malaysia and China Series driver Cherry Cheung, both of whom also competed at Macau last month.

The second Audi RS 3 LMS is entered for Kelvin Lam, Italian Angelo Negro, who contested two rounds of this year’s Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup, and James Wong.

The weekend gets underway with a 70-minute practice session on Friday, December 6, with a 30-minute qualifying session beginning at 10:30 on Saturday. The 700km race begins at 11:00 on Sunday, December 8 (all times UTC+8).
